Review: My Greeting Box – April 2018 The Card Making Subscription Box

This month’s My Greeting Box has left the cold grey Earth and gone to outer space to meet some monsters!

As always, a well-packaged box that fits through the mailbox.

Though this month the Royal Mail has really done a number on it! I’ve no idea how they managed to get through two layers of thick gaffer tape. Fortunately, everything inside is still perfectly intact.

Every design has full and detailed instructions.

Check out these cute acrylic stamps! Lots of lovely cardstock too, silver, black, and white card, plus the greeting card blanks and envelopes are also black.

How exciting, a silver pen, and even better, a silver inkpad! I’ve never used silver ink before.

There are some terrific accents this month, silver jewels, tiny coloured stars, and googly eyes! A must for any self-respecting monster.

There’s the essential practical stuff, double sided tape and PVA glue. Those fine nozzles on the glue bottle are incredibly useful for sticking down really tiny things.

You also get little clear envelopes to store your finished cards until you send them.

I absolutely love this month’s card theme. The cartoon space monsters are such fun, and while they would be perfect for children I think anyone would get a kick out of receiving one!

The cards I have made from this lovely subscription box are always impressive. OK, that sounds braggy, but seriously, I’m constantly amazed at how beautifully the designs turn out! Of course, the instructions are practically idiot-proof, and any mistakes I’ve made have been down to me not reading them properly. And fortunately I’ve always been able to salvage the card one way or another!

(You can take a look at some of the designs I’ve already made from previous boxes here.)

You get everything you need in a My Greeting Box, lots of extra cardstock, blank cards, and other bits for making extras. If you’d like to be creative and produce something lovely, but aren’t quite sure where to start, this is a wonderful way of learning new techniques and accumulating a great collection of material!

Handmade cards are a gift in themselves, infinitely more personal than something you can buy. The process of making them is also incredibly satisfying.

These designs are going to be a lot of fun to make. It’s my husband’s birthday in May, and after the success of the Valentine’s card I made him from the January box, I think he’s going to love a birthday monster!
