Review: nomakenolife – July 2018

nomakenolife has been pretty on point recently with some awesome summery beauty products! I’m excited to see what they’ve come up with for July.

If your eyes are sharp you’ll notice the booklet actually says June on the cover. Yep, last month’s menu booklet was included by mistake. Ooops! As I can’t read Japanese, I was feeling somewhat flummoxed. I mean, some of the products are fairly obvious, but even so. All was not lost though, because I emailed the lovely people at nomakenolife and they sent me pictures of this month’s menu. I’ll pop them in at the end.

In the meantime, let’s have a look at what’s in the box.

Brush Styling Sheet nomakenolife review July 2018 japanese beauty box

Brush Styling Sheet. These are a box of ten sheets that you attach to your hairbrush. It contains nice nourishing stuff like ceramide and collagen. The idea is that it smooths out your hair and adds shine.

Venus Spa Sakura Fragrance Stick nomakenolife review July 2018 japanese beauty box

As you can probably guess, it’s a solid perfume stick. It’s alcohol and paraben free, and has a sweet fresh fragrance. The design is also super-cute with the little bunny holding flowers.

Organic Argan Oil Oil Repair Milk. This is a lovely nourishing hair product, especially for heat-damaged hair.

You can see the two colours in one on the top of the crayon. There were two possible varieties, emerald and amethyst, each with a neutral colour. My purplish one is the amethyst version. It’s smooth and quite iridescent.

Dessert Sheet Mask nomakenolife review July 2018 japanese beauty box

Dessert Sheet Mask. Sheet masks are my favorite! There were three possible masks, and this one is Mint Orange. Yum!

Oh, and here are the menu pages I was sent.

There’s also some handy extra info, such as how to use the hair sheets, and some haircare tips.

I think the fragrance stick is rather a clever idea, especially for travelling. No glass to break or bottle to leak, so easy and safe to pop into your bag and apply when needed. You don’t even need to worry about spraying someone in the face!

The eyeshadow is a nice item. I’m usually less keen on the nmnl makeup, as I prefer my colours matte and muted. However I can see how this would be useful, especially as you can use it as two individual colours or blend them together. Like the perfume stick, it would be useful for travelling as there’s no danger of it shattering like an eyeshadow palette.

I can see how the hair sheets would be useful for anyone who would like to smooth down their hair and add a bit of shine. As it happens, my hair is very fine and has a tendency to flatness, so I’ll be passing these along to a couple of people I know who will really like them!

The hair oil treatment is inspired. It’s very common to regularly use hair dryers, curling tongs, and flatirons, and all that heat easily causes damage. Argan oil is known for its conditioning properties for the hair and skin, so this would be perfect for stressed hair. Not only that, but with summer on the march your hair will be exposed to sun, sea, and chlorine, which also damage hair. A lovely rich hair treatment is perfect to counteract all this!

Finally, I’m very happy to have another sheet mask because I love ’em! There were two other dessert masks in the January box, and they were delicious. I can’t wait to try this one out to.! (Follow me on Instagram if you want to see the result!)

The products from nomakenolife are generally difficult to impossible to find outside Japan. For this reason I don’t do a price/value breakdown. However I’m always confident that the value is excellent, and the quality is always terrific. (To give you an example though, fragrance stick retails for around £10.25 before tax. Not bad, eh?)

All in all, a lovely assortment. My favorites are the sheet mask, of course, and the hair treatment.

I’m looking forward to having sweet skin and gorgeous hair this summer!
