Review: Under the Rowan Trees – Stationery Box October 2017

I love stationery! Washi tape, glitter, pretty paper goodies, it’s all delicious. Under the Rowan Trees supplies a monthly stationery box of these delightful things, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to explore the October box!

Here’s the blurb:

Receive a subscription box of stationery loveliness once a month directly to your door! Love receiving parcels? Adore receiving surprises? Covet stationery and journal accessories? Then this is the club for you! An ideal gift for anyone who loves journaling, planning, scrap booking or paper craft. A perfect gift for a teacher or student or a lovely treat for yourself! £15 a month plus P&P.

October’s theme, appropriately enough is Black Cats and Magic.

The box arrived in a gorgeous purple mailing bag! I think if you’re going to use a mailing bag you night as well make it a funky coloured one.

It’s nice and thin, so fits through the mailbox perfectly.

What a cute black cat sticker!

Here we have a lovely little Black Witch Cat Planner Clip Paperclip.

It is made by SparklyCraftyShop and comes all the way from Canada! I love the shiny purple hat.

These lovely stickers are designed by Aurore McLeod, and they all have names! Problem Hair Pumpkin, Bashful Bat, and Can’t Be Bothered Cat.

Not only are they lovely designs, they have a convenient tab so they can be easily removed from the backing paper. Very thoughtful.

Who needs a magic wand when you have this Magical Glittery Pen?

This lovely ballpoint will definitely make writing my shopping list fee a lot more glamorous! It’s nice quality too, retractable, impressively heavy, plus you can use refills when it runs out.

These lovely black cats are hand cut and laminated by Danielle (Miss Under the Rowan Trees) herself. Nothing like a black cat for a bit of good luck, and I’ve got two! You can pin them on a notice board, stick them on the fridge, use them to decorate your planner, scrapbooking, or just general creativity!

Also there is a tiny jar of glitter. Of course, you can just use it as glitter, but I think it’s much better to keep as a little bit of special magic.

Ohhhhh, I love washi tape! These two designs are gorgeous. Kitties and pawprints, and sparkly stars and moons.

Here are some paper items. The November Calendar Page would look lovely as an addition to your journal, or you can simply pin it up to cross off the days until December!

The other papers are Halloween designs, which would work very well for collage work, or again, as planner pages or decoration. You could even use it for decoupage! Definitely something for the craft stash.

Finally, some Popping Candy! Who doesn’t love this stuff? And there’s even a witch on the package!

Danielle also sells a wonderful selection of quirky and tempting stationery and craft items in her shop, so you can dive in there for more goodies!

As I said, this is my first ever Under the Rowan Trees box, and I’m absolutely delighted!

I love that there are items from small businesses, artists and producers, and they are beautifully chosen for the Black Cats and Magic theme. It definitely has a personal touch.

In this box, the washi tape and pen are my favourites, though I love everything else. Halloween has passed, but I’ll be squirreling the papers and stickers away for next year!

The idea of a little box of crafty stationery goodies every month is very appealing. I had a little look at some of the previous boxes, (I especially love this one) and I can tell you now, I wish I’d found out about this lovely company sooner!

A stationery box from Under the Rowan Trees feels like a real treat without being distressingly expensive, and if you (or a friend who also deserves a treat!) enjoy attractive creative things this is a perfect fit!
