Review: Mila & Pheebs – August 2018 The Back To School Box

Yep, it’s almost the end of the summer holidays! But Mila & Pheebs has come up with a terrific box of goodies to get your kids in the mood to go Back to School.

It’s amazing what gets fitted into that box. It’s small enough to go through the mailbox, but there’s a ton of stuff inside! Oh, and do you like the new box design? So much more cheerful than the plain box!

There’s even a newsletter. Nice bright colours, easy for little ones to read, and it’s got jokes, trivia, and dates for your diary. I definitely like the look of International Read A Book Day!

Who loves stickers? (That would be everybody.) This month we have some fun holographic school stickers, and foam alphabet stickers. Little C has been using the holographic stickers for her toys’ school!

I’m rather tempted to pinch these emoji sticky notes. There are four different designs, and I think they could be quite useful for indicating the importance of notes I leave round the house!

Craft kits! Star Scratch Art and a basket weaving kit.

Scratch art kits are simple but they’re so effective. You start with the black shape and then scratch it off in various patterns, revealing the lovely colours underneath.

Doesn’t that look cool?

The  other craft kit, basket weaving, is a new new style we haven’t seen before. You get a whole lot of coloured raffia-type string, and a cardboard shape, and as you might have guessed, you weave the raffia in the shape to make a basket. I needed to help a little, especially when changing the colours, but it didn’t take too long and the results were terrific!

And it’s very handy for keeping some of the other bits from the box! Speaking of which…

A tiny sparkly notebook! Children adore tiny things, and this little notebook is a treasure. There’s also a gorgeous rainbow pencil with its own set of mini colouring pencils attached. Again with the tiny things! So cute.

This month’s competition is to draw a picture of your favourite teacher. There are also two blank greeting cards; perhaps the favourite teacher might appreciate one!

Colouring and word puzzle sheets. Little C always goes for the puzzles straight away.

And having immediate access to a pencil was pretty useful!

Finally, this month’s mini eraser is this adorable pair of scissors. They even open and close!

What a great theme this month. It’s perfect to brighten up the end of the summer holidays, and I think that rainbow pencil is definitely going to make its way into a pencil case!

It’s really nice to have a new and different craft kit, the basket looks absolutely lovely. The sticky notes are really fun, almost too nice to let Little C keep for herself! I love the blank greetings cards, as I think it’s very important for children to give personalized cards.

If you have a child who loves stationery (and let’s face it, most kids do!) this is a great assortment of treats. You’ve got things to keep and use over and over, and also some fun craft activities. The box is nice and compact, so very portable. It would be perfect to take away on holiday, or to keep kids occupied at a wedding or event.

This box of goodies is a great way to start the new school year!
