Review: Mila & Pheebs – The Christmas Box 2017 Stationery and Activity Boxes for Kids

It’s time for some Christmas fun from Mila & Pheebs! This is our first Christmassy activity, so it’s a great start to the festive season.

OK, so it’s still technically November (at time of writing of course) but who cares, I’ve done my December planner layout, I’m getting out the Christmas decorations, and the festive feeling is upon us!

Quick blurb:

Mila & Pheebs create stationery and activity boxes for children. They contain a mixture of stationery, crafts, stickers, and fun items, based around a different theme each month. It’s £10 per month plus £2.99 P&P.

As always, my lovely helper and enthusiastic tester is my daughter, Little C. She’s just turned seven, and loves anything craft and stationery-related. (This month we had a little extra help from our little Christmas teddy bear, who also featured in the August box review.)

Having seen the Christmas box trailed on the Mila & Pheebs Instagram, we were really looking forward to receiving it.

It dropped through the door just in time for the weekend.

The menu is inside the box lid, but I always try not to look at it because I like to be surprised!

The monthly newsletter that comes with every box is a real treat. The design is lovely, very clear with nice bright colours, and the font is very easy for little ones to read.

I’m loving all the festive red and green! The little Christmas quiz is a great idea too.

Yep, that’s all looking beautifully festive.

Mila & Pheebs always have lovely stickers. This month’s foam stickers are lovely cheery robins, and the shiny holographic sheet is a great assortment of festive pictures. I especially love the starlight mints stickers. Starlight mints are big in the US at Christmas, but you don’t get them in the UK, which is a pity because they’re yummy, but at least we get them in sticker version!

Christmas Teddy would also like to show you the stickers.

Did you see the little stack of gingerbread men in the main picture? Well, they are a gingerbread men pop-a-crayon! These cute little guys stack up and separate into different coloured crayons. When the crayon part runs out I have my eye on them for Christmas crafts for next year.

Here’s a great little Christmas craft: a design your own Christmas stocking, plus some lovely glitter crayons.

I love the idea of writing a letter to Santa on the back! Do you think it might get you some extra goodies in your stocking?

I think almost every child loves little notebooks, and this gorgeous Snowman Notebook is perfect for tiny designs and notes. You can use this snowflake pencil with the fun snowman eraser topper!

Little C is definitely a notebook enthusiast!

The pages have a light snowman design, like on the cover. Design your own!

A couple of blank greetings cards are included in every Mila & Pheebs box. This is such a great idea, as I think it’s very important for children to make cards. The mitten washing line design is fantastic, I’m thinking of using that one myself!

Little C is very keen on foam mosaics, so this snowman was the first thing she wanted to do.

They’re quite simple but very satisfying. (I added a few of the little foam squares myself!)

This will be going on the tree!

Did you see the tiny snowman in one of the previous pictures? Well, here he is! Every Mila & Pheebs box contains a tiny Iwako eraser, which are miniature Japanese collectible erasers in a multitude of shapes and characters.

Snowman, meet Christmas Teddy.

These little erasers are far too nice to use, so he will be added to our lovely collection. In fact, I’m considering attaching a little loop and hanging him on our Christmas tree.

Another regular Mila & Pheebs inclusion are colouring sheets and puzzle sheets.

Love a bit of Christmas colouring!

Little C is extremely keen on all word puzzles, so both the wordsearch and codebreaker get taken care of pretty fast!

When I photograph this box I have to make sure Little C is out of the way, because she’s always dying to dive into the goodies! This month was no exception, especially because it’s the first festive thing we’ve had to do. Usually I don’t start anything Christmassy until December 1st, but I made an exception for this, because it’s so much fun and there’s no way we could wait!

Mila & Pheebs boxes are always lovely to explore. The themes are neutral, and will appeal to boys and girls.

I really like the combination of things to make and do, and free creativity. We love our collection of little erasers, and there are plenty of things you can keep and use again. You can never have too many things to colour and draw with!

It’s a wonderful monthly treat, and you can also buy one-off boxes.

This is a lovely box to keep stashed for a rainy day, for travelling, or for keeping children entertained at a wedding. I also think they make lovely gifts, or even a very fancy party bag!

They would also work well as a stocking filler, though I’d recommend you get your hands on this Christmas box well before Christmas Eve. The school holidays aren’t far away, and this is a great thing to distract the kids while you’re elbow deep in Christmas preparations!

I don’t know about you, but there’s no way I have time to track down and organize something like this that brings little C a great deal of delight. These boxes are charming, reasonably priced, and offer fun, creativity, and even some sneaky educational value!

As a final note, Mila & Pheebs is created and run by a lovely mummy, Alexis, who also manages to wrangle gorgeous twin girls at the same time! Do take a look at her Facebook page, you’ll find info about her shop and company, and terrific behind-the-scenes stuff.

This has been a wonderful way to kick off the festive season.

Merry Christmas Mila & Pheebs!
