Review: Papergang from Ohh Deer: April 2018

I can never get enough of notebooks and attractively designed stationery. Little C has been very lucky to get her own kids’ stationery boxes, but now it’s my turn for a grownup version!

Papergang is a monthly stationery subscription box brought to you by Ohh Deer, which sells lovely illustrated stationery supplies. Each month features a different artist and theme, and this month’s designs are from Arthouse. More about this organization later, but for now, let’s have a look at what’s on offer this month!

Here we have the box, with this lovely coloured sleeve. Last month’s box was actually a tube, but I understand it wasn’t that popular with subscribers so they’ve reverted to their original packaging, which fits through the letterbox. (Personally I quite liked the tube, thought it’s handy not to have to visit the sorting office!)

Everything inside is wrapped in tissue paper like a little present.

A5ish Notebook. This notebook has sturdy hard covers, and opens out impressively flat.

The pages are cleverly done, lined on one side and blank opposite.

And look at these cool stickers! This sheet is on the inside of the first page, and would work very well for journaling.

Sticky Notes and Washi Tape. Both these things have the same design of little dogs. The pattern on the notes is pale enough not to interfere with any writing.

Greetings Cards. I love these bright colours! The ‘Happy Days’ card has the same pattern as the notebook, and the calendar sheet (above) has more of those cute little dogs.

Menu booklet and price list. The booklet also tells you about this month’s designer. The designs are from an organisation called Arthouse, which supports the artistic endeavors of a collective of adults living with disabilities.

Not only are the designs terrific, this is a wonderful scheme. £1 from every Papergang box sold this month goes towards supporting them. Read more about Arthouse here.

I really like this month’s box!

The notebook‘s layout is very clever with the combination of lined and blank pages. It would make a wonderful journal, or it could even be used for writing stories and illustrations. The stickers are a great addition as well. You can never have too many notebooks! (My daughter agrees. I’m going to have to work to keep this one for myself!

I love sticky notes, and I use them often. They’re very handy, especially for leaving myself (or my family) random notes and reminders. The colour and pattern is really lovely and cheery as well, especially as the weather is so grey and miserable at the moment!

Washi tape is also something that is handy, for crafting, scrapbooking, and even just sticking things on the wall!

It’s always useful to have greetings cards around, and these are going to go into my stash. The calendar sheet will fit nicely into a journal (using the washi tape perhaps?) or put on the fridge door or noticeboard.

The box itself fits nicely through the letterbox. I really like how the outer sleeve matches the designs on the items inside. Having everything wrapped in tissue paper is also a lovely touch, it makes it even more exciting to open up.

The value of the box is terrific. All these items are exclusive to Papergang, and won’t even appear in the Ohh Deer shop for a while yet. It’s supporting and promoting a wonderful cause. Everything is useful and looks beautiful. I think my favorite pattern is the dogs – I love the variety of the little figures!

(Oh, and check out the Arthouse Shop, they sell some wonderful things!)
