Lootaku is a premium monthly geek and gamer subscription box from Hong Kong. Cost is $44.99 per month. It usually has an emphasis on manga and anime franchises, but this is one of the months they go a little off-piste…
This month’s theme is DC UNIVERSE! I saw this being trailed and I was so excited because Lootaku come up with some awesome items when they go down the non-manga/anime route.
You can’t tell from the picture but it’s a pretty big box this month. I love the treasure chest design!
DC Big Plush. This one is Superman, though there was also the possibility of a Wonder Woman plush instead.
He’s kind of an interesting design. It reminds me a little bit of the POP style, though without a mouth. I have to admit that I would have preferred the Wonder Woman plush, just because I like her character more. Anyway, he’s soft and cuddly.
Banpresto Q-Posket Harley Quinn Figure – Asia Exclusive.
This figure comes in two parts plus stand.
She’s got the same costume and styling as Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad movie.
Her head is pretty large, so the stand is designed to support it.
However the figure does balance OK without the stand! The detailing on this figure is really, really good.
Batman Arkham Knight Batarang Mini Replica/Letter Opener. It comes complete with a presentation box.
This is a pretty amazing item! It’s made of metal, has some proper weight to it, and while you couldn’t easily cut yourself on it those edges are fairly sharp! It certainly opens letters extremely effectively. I wouldn’t throw it at anything though, as it would do some real damage! Definitely one to keep well away from the kids.
Inplay Hanging Figure – Batman. Other options were Superman or The Flash.
The little figure comes well boxed up with a stand and a keychain attachment.
While he can be a keychain, I think he looks fantastic on his little stand. He’s got an amazing dynamic flying-kick pose, and an adorable face. Again, the design reminds me a little of the POP face, but he looks much more interesting.
Batman Light Box. It has an on/off switch on the cable, and comes with a USB plug and a non-UK plug adaptor.
The full effect! Isn’t that amazing? It’s made from layers of laser-cut plastic and paper to create a 3D diorama look.
Way back in June 2017 there was similar light box, a Dragon Ball World scene. I think this one is even better!
And the menu card.
Well, this is all pretty cool, huh?
I love it when Lootaku branch out with their themes. Some awesome past boxes have included Assassins last August and Game of Thrones last July.
The box price, including UK shipping, is $62.65, which usually works out between £42 and £45, depending on the exchange rate.
As always, any figures are premium, and this box, even though there’s only one large figure, is no exception. The Harley Quinn figure is an Asia exclusive, and while you can import it from Japan, it doesn’t come cheap! On Amazon you can get it imported for nearly £35, and that’s pretty much the only UK site where I can find it.
The letter opener was listed on ThinkGeek for £14, but it’s no longer in stock. You can find it a few other places, including Amazon.com, but it’s a lot more expensive.
Just those two items take the box over its listed value, so as always, you get terrific bang for your buck!
This is a fantastic creative box from Lootaku, and while I always appreciate the quality of their figures in general, they are always that little bit extra special when they go for other things!
