Review: nomakenolife – June 2018

I love receiving a new nomakenolife box! I’m really hoping for something summery now the hot weather has arrived.

There’s the menu booklet. There’s lots of interesting things inside.

A full product list of course, plus information about Japanese beauty and cosmetic culture. There’s even a social media page…

… and I’m on it! This is an Instagram picture I posted with the Beauty World Slim Cat Mask from the March box. Little C (my daughter) has been in a couple of the YumeTwins booklets, but this is my first time!

Anyway, enough showing off, let’s have a look inside this month’s box.

This eyeshadow and highlighter palette contains no fewer than 18 colours! They are all lovely tones, plus a fantastic pop of turquoise. It also comes with two little applicators, though I prefer to use my own brushes. These are all colours I would use, as I like to keep my eyes fairly neutral for regular daytime makeup.

Maiko-San Facepuff Wash nomakenolife review June 2018 Japanese Beauty Box

Maiko-San Facepuff Wash. This face puff is super-soft and gentle on your skin. It’s made from incredibly thin silk fibres that really clean the pores without any harshness on sensitive areas of your face.

LaDun Nail Stickers nomakenolife review June 2018 Japanese Beauty Box

LaDun Nail Stickers. These are an easy way to a fancy manicure! They have a 3D jewelled effect and a pretty lacy design. They’re easy to apply – stick on your nail, then gently file away the excess with the included nail file.

Pelican Beautiful Pearl Soap nomakenolife review June 2018 Japanese Beauty Box

Pelican Beautiful Pearl Soap. This luxury facial soap contains pearl essence and powder which acts as a very gentle exfoliant to keep your skin clear. It also contains collagen to soften the skin.

Vibeke's UV protection gel nomakenolife review June 2018 Japanese Beauty Box

Vibeke’s UV Protection Gel SPF30. This is a very generous tube of suncream! It’s also alcohol and fragrance free, suitable for face and body, and won’t dry out your skin. It also means you can use it on the kids! It’s also not at all greasy, it feels more like a light moisturizer. I haven’t tested it yet, but apparently it’s also water-resistant. Either was, this is terrific.

I’m always glad to have more soap, and if previous soaps in the April, February, and August boxes are anything to go by, this one will be lovely!

I have very short nails so the nail stickers aren’t really my thing. There was something similar in last month’s box, but I have friends with lovely nails who appreciate manicure-related gifts! The stickers are very pretty though, and I’m sure they would look lovely on proper long nails.

The eyeshadow palette is amazing. All the colours are just my thing, and I might even be brave enough to try out the turquoise! The pigmentation is pretty good as well.

The face puff goes nicely with the soap, or you could use it with any other facewash.

The standout item for me this month is the suncream. It may not be super-exciting, but it’s extremely useful now summer is here! I’m also pleased that it’s fragrance and alcohol free, because my skin can be quite sensitive to both these things, especially on my face. I’ve been hoping for SPF products now summer is coming, and this one is perfect.

The products from nomakenolife are generally difficult to impossible to find outside Japan. For this reason I don’t do a price/value breakdown. However I’m always confident that the value is excellent, and the quality is always terrific.

I’m ready for summer!
